Mars and Saturn

There has been a lot of talk over the last few years about Jupiter. Certainly, I LOVE Jupiter. I made it the focus of my book, I belong to an order dedicated to Jupiter. Jupiter is awesome in the truest sense of the word.

That awesomeness can however yield two problems.

The first is that Jupiter can provide more than you can currently handle. Too many opportunities may confuse or even seize-up your ability to choose a direction to head.  Marketers call this the Paralysis of Choice: too many brands and lines of a product will actually lower sales of the product overall because people can’t choose. Too much growth in a business too quickly can force you to take expensive steps to expand production or hire employees that you were not ready to make yet.

The second problem that some people have is that of stepping through the doors that open for you. You may have done a working for more wealth. Jupiter may have provided you with an idea or an opportunity in the form of a side business or second job. The problem is that if you have a full time job, watch 12 hours of TV a week, Play Video Games a lot, and meet with friends every Sunday to play Dungeons and Dragons; it will take a major overhaul of your lifestyle and priorities to take advantage of that opportunity (or a girlfriend, or just growing up a bit… :-)

I have already talked about how Saturn can help instill discipline and clear away distractions. Mars is a great compliment to this. Saturn clears the way, Mars plows through. Saturn Binds, Mars Attacks.

Those that feel Mars alone can be too battle hungry and aggressive, will be pleased with the Saturnian influence. Rather than the berserker rage, you get the careful warrior who is patient and waits for the perfect time to strike with maximum effect from full force and fury. When sorting through options and embarking on projects, this is the perfect solution.

If you are worried about the presence of the malifics in your life, I will simply point out that they are already there, you are simply taking the reins and steering their influence. After meditation, the next most important ability of a sorcerer is mediation. If you are still bugging out…. well, that’s why Saturdays darkness is followed by Sundays light, and why Tuesadays Martial severity is followed by Wednesadays Mercurial sagacity.

So go deck out your temple in red and black, and get a little severe with yourself and your world. Tie some things down, and beat the crap out what has been ailing you. The ass you kick may be your own…

Just don’t overdo it.

  1. +Jason, you’ve anticipated me. I’m going through my Jupiter work on Eighth Sermon, and I mention the very risks you do in part V. Great minds think alike, I guess. :)

    Jason,

I’m curious how more experienced sorcerers might combine a working with both influences?

    THank you

Hey Jason, here’s a question about planetary magics for you:

When would you use the Sun, or Mercury? And would you ever use them in place of Jupiter for various workings?

I knew a magician who insisted that Mercury was far better for wealth workings than Jupiter. I suppose he was after “fast money” and I do know that he made his cash in “inf0 marketing” so perhaps that makes a bit of sense. Of course he seems to have mercurially vanished after a bit of hijinx so maybe that one answers itself.

I’ve heard the Sun referred to as “Jupiter on steroids”, so are there things you’d use the Sun for in place of Jupiter?

I’m pretty clear on why I’d use Mars for a boxing match, and Saturn for pest extermination.

    Thought provoking post. Thanks.
