Help me Choose a Lecture

OK, so I was going to do my Crucible workshop on Extreme Financial Sorcery, but as I get that material together I realize that:
1. I don’t have enough time to get it together in the next month with everything else I have going on.
2. The EXTREME parts are all more or less on the mundane side, not the magical side, so while it will make a great chapbook followup to Financial Sorcery, it is not going to make a great lecture.

No big deal. I have OODLES of lectures that I can do at the drop of a hat. I have narrowed it down to two. I need you to help me choose. Just leave your vote in the comments section as to which you would rather see. Your vote gets extra weight if you are actually attending Crucible.

CHOICE ONE:  GOING PRO

More and more magicians, witches, and occultists are choosing to offer their services to the public in exchange for money. In this class Jason Miller, who has been working professionally in this field for ten years, will discuss the ups and downs of working as a professional magician.

CHOICE TWO: THE LIGHTNING GLYPHS

This year, in his new book Financial Sorcery, Jason Miller released a series of Lightning Glyph symbols that were sent by the god Jupiter to assist people in their workings. In this class Jason will go over each of the Glyphs in detail and use them to illustrate important points of Financial Sorcery. This class will end with a short group ritual aimed at securing the blessings of Jupiter for all who attend.

I vote for “Going Pro.” Why not present yourself as more of a generalist than as an insider speaking to the choir as an expert Lightning glyph ritualist for the god Jupiter?

There is a little self interest at work here. I will be there with a bunch of college professors. “Magic” is finally making its way into the academy. I hope it is a good impression.

    Y.

  2. Jason F says:

I also vote for “Going Pro”. It’s a subject that’s always interested me when you talked about your own experience, and I’d love to know more about it. Matt and I will most likely be at Crucible.

  3. Aerwyndale says:

My vote would be for “Going Pro.”

  4. Fr AQ says:

    The Lightning Glyphs

I find these glyphs quite interesting. I spent more time looking at these than any other part of Financial Sorcery than any other.

  5. The Lightning Glyphs, dude. Make it happen.

  6. David Cypher says:

Lightning glyphs: as they are doorways and springboards to results, other levels and different way at looking at a suituation.

  7. Ziad says:

    The Lightning glyphs please.

  8. I wish I could be there, but previous commitments. I still vote for lightning glyphs. It sounds interesting.

  9. Both sound interesting (alas–I can’t go, but if was able to); I would be a touch more interested in Going Pro.

  10. Sara says:

Lightning glyphs! Ideally, much of which is a workshop/practicum/ritual. Over the last few years, I feel like Crucible workshops have been less and less about magic and more and more about being a magician, which is cool and all, and I love the feeling of magical community but it’s coolest when we’re actually doing some magic. I guess what I’m saying is the opposite of what Yvonne said: Isn’t Crucible one of your only chances to be an insider preaching to the choir? There are so many events which are about “keeping up appearances” for non-magicians. What make Crucible my favorite is the “for us, by us” feeling. ;)

I will definitely be at Crucible, with a whole car full of people in tow.

Its probably going to be the lightning glyphs.

Like you Sara, I am not inclined to present myself as a generalist to cater to academics. Crucible is very much a FUBU event.

Besides, the Glyph lecture will let me jump all over the place financially and will probably wind up being a more fun lecture.

    • Sara says:

Also, I is have grammar good morning early yes. :)

  11. Cole says:

I’ll be there and vote for lightening glyphs, especially as it seems the audience for a “Going Pro” workshop would be much smaller, at least of individuals who will actually put it into practice.

  12. Charles says:

If only I was living stateside! I think the Lightning glyphs would be excellent for the event, to serve as an introduction to the much-needed Jupiter current. That, and a Jupiter blessing? way to go!

  13. runeworker says:

My initial thought was Lightning Glyphs. People love tech.

but then I thought Going Pro cause I think more people need to hear good advice about the potentials and pitfalls of doing it.
